Fiona Leggat

Director

Early Years has been my passion for over 30
years. In everything I do I believe in giving each child the same
opportunities and equality for all. I have been involved in the Early Years Sector since 1992 when I undertook evening classes in Play. This led to me undertaking further education and becoming a college lecturer in Childcare.

Following a very rewarding career as a college lecturer I opened my first Nursery in 2006 and went on to open a further 2 nurseries. These
Nurseries were highly successful, being registered for over 200 children and employing over 50 staff. I sold my nursery business in 2022 and became a Consultant to Early Years. I am also a member of Child Hearing Scotland and enjoy the contribution I make to Children’s Panels.

I spent over 16 years building up the Papillon Group to be amongst the
most successful and highest graded nurseries in Scotland. I took the
decision to sell the nurseries in 2022 to develop my career in other ways.

After selling my nursery business and taking part retirement I began my own Consultancy business in Early Years, providing support to the PVI (Private, Voluntary, Independent) Nursery Sector. I have offered support to nursery in the PVI sector using my expertise of funding, business structuring, expansion, staffing and childcare. Over the last year I worked alongside over 20 nurseries to develop their own establishments and achieve improve gradings with CI.
I am now a Director with Cotton Nursery Group. I advise the Directors on legislation and statutory matters.  Nursery Managers all directly report to me on matters of Finance, HR, Quality & Care, Government partnerships and business sustainability  growth.
My priority with Cotton nursery Group is to help them grow their group,
expanding in all areas of the Country.

a quality service for children and families.

Company Profile..

Cotton Nursery Group already own a few nurseries and are looking to expand and acquire a select number of well-established settings within Scotland.

You could be selling for any of the following reasons: -

  • Retirement
  • Moving or leaving sector

  • Ill health

  • Spend more time with family

  • Relocating

  • Tired of the sector

We understand that a huge concern for owners moving on is their loyalty to their staff, children, and parents.

Our model would be to retain all staff, operational structure, nursery name and brand to continue the legacy that you have already built up over time.

This will ensure that the sale can be carried out seamlessly putting all parties’ minds at ease.

We also appreciate that confidentiality should be at the forefront of any discussions due to the sensitivity of a business sale, we are happy to create a non-disclosure agreement.
